  1. WHAT IS SELL YOUR PRACTICE AND WHO RUNS IT?

    SELL YOUR PRACTICE is an electronic (web server and E-mail based) discussion list that allows professionals in the financial services and specifically insurance agents and brokers from across the country to carry on discussions -- amongst themselves --- of issues relating to the purchase and sale of Practices.
    At the present time, there is no cost to participate on the SELL YOUR PRACTICE list and anyone connected with insurance, mutual fund or securities brokerage and the giving of financial advice who is interested in purchasing or selling a financial services practice or business interest is invited to join in the spirit of more open and effective dialogue.

  2. HOW DO I SUBSCRIBE TO THE SELL YOUR PRACTICE LIST?

    Submissions to SELL YOUR PRACTICE are automatically posted and redistributed to all members. Membership is available by enrolling on our welcome page (click on Register or at http://forum.sellyourpractice.ca/ucp.php?mode=register) or by sending an E-mail to geller@geller-insurance.com and including the following message in the message text area:
    join SELL YOUR PRACTICE, and your full name and an initial password for access to list posting and choices..

  3. HOW DO I UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THE SELL YOUR PRACTICE LIST?

    To "unsubscribe" from SELL YOUR PRACTICE and remove your E-mail address from the distribution list, just click on the button labeled Unsubscribe at the bottom of the List pages on the general menu page or send an E-mail to geller@geller-insurance.com and include the following message in the message text area:

  4. HOW DO I POST A MESSAGE TO SELL YOUR PRACTICE?

    Click on the button labeled Go To List and then Login, Create a New Topic (http://www.sellyourpractice.ca/). Please remember that this is a professional forum. Be sure to SIGN every message you post.
    1. E-MAIL FILE ATTACHMENTS ... A "NO-NO."

      DO NOT send file attachments along with ANY POSTING TO THE LIST. There are many reasons for this "rule", most to do with the transfer of viruses and malicious applications, suffice it to say, just don't. Besides, many list members will automatically delete your message as soon as they see there is a file attachment connected to it. Instead, use the copy and paste features of your browser/word processor.


  5. HOW DO I SET Sell your practice's DIGEST FEATURE? (Also known as, "I'm getting too much E-mail! What can I do?)

    Since SELL YOUR PRACTICE can be a be a fairly high volume list at times, some members may want to consider setting the digest or index features. These features cause all E-mail in a given day to be automatically compiled into one single message, either comprised of an index of all messages for that day (index) or a full copy of all messages for that day complete with a table of contents (digest). This feature can be "turned on" from the Your Settings button on the general menu page and changing your Status.
    Once you have set the digest feature, if you want to go back to receiving SELL YOUR PRACTICE on a non-digested, or message by message basis, just change the settings to "receive messages as they are contributed" from the Your Settings button on the general menu page.

  6. ACCEPTABLE USE GUIDELINES

    All E-mail sent to the SELL YOUR PRACTICE list (i.e., postings) must comply with the following set of acceptable use guidelines. Users who violate the acceptable use guidelines risk permanent expulsion from the list: All postings to http://www.sellyourpractice.ca
    are the responsibility of the poster. No postings to http://www.sellyourpractice.ca
    are moderated or edited, in any way, prior to dissemination.
    Submitted materials must not be copyrighted unless all necessary recognition of the source and author is made, as permitted;
    Submissions must be (at least remotely) related to the purposes of the list as outlined in Section 7, below;

    Basic rules of E-mail etiquette are expected; e.g., anonymous submissions, character assassination, profanity and discussions regarding politics, religion or sexuality and sexual preference are strictly prohibited unless directly related to the purposes of the list, as outlined below;

    Users must maintain civil and professional decorum in their postings. Failure to maintain decorum risk permanent expulsion from the list.

    Nothing communicated in this forum should be construed as legal advice, regardless of the source.

    Users must refrain from posting commercial solicitations OTHER THAN THOSE BY AN INDIVIDUAL AUTHORIZED TO SELL OR PURCHASE A FINANCIAL SERVICES PRACTICE to the list. If you are uncertain whether a post is "commercial" or not, simply send a preview of your message to geller@geller-insurance.com and ask for approval to submit your posting.
    Users must not promote themselves, their services or their products in association with the SELL YOUR PRACTICE list.
    Any breach of these Rules and, for greater clarity, and any breach of the Acceptable Use Guidelines, may result in permanent expulsion from the list.

    Possible topics for discussion on SELL YOUR PRACTICE might include any of the following:
